How to find items for sale
How to find items for sale
From your Wantlist
From your Wantlist page, you can view each item and access it's release page to see the Marketplace listings. Within your list, under each item description, you will see in a blue font how many items are currently for sale in the Marketplace, and the available prices.
You can also use the search results (or the barcode scanner results) to find the item you want to buy. Type the name of the item (or LP, album, EP, etc) and narrow the results by using the filters above the results list (Release, Master Release, Artists, Label, Genre, Format, Release Date). You will have to tap the specific release to know more about prices.
For now, it’s not possible to search for a seller within the App. However, if you previously bought something from a seller you will be able to tap their username, from an order page, for example. You will see the seller’s profile page, and in blue you’ll see “Items for Sale”. Tap there to see the items they have for sale.
Also, if you are viewing an item page, you can tap on View Seller's Inventory to view more items that seller has for sale.
Tap on the release and on the release page scroll down to view the current items for sale. This will display under the Marketplace statistics and above the tracklist.
On the release page, the list will show the first five items for sale. If there are more items for sale and you want to know more about them, you can tap “Show all # for Sale” located under that list. Tapping “Show all # for Sale” will show you the complete list of items being sold in the Marketplace at the moment.
In both lists, you can see the following details: Seller’s username, seller’s rating, media and sleeve condition, item price, shipping cost information (if available) and the country the item will be shipped from.
Once you find the item you want to buy, tap on it to see a full description of the item. The item page will inform you further about the seller’s accepted payment methods, if you can make an offer on the item (via discogs.com), more information from the Database about the release itself, the seller’s comments about the item in question, product details, the seller’s terms, and if there are more copies for sale. If you want to buy this item, please tap the button "Add to Cart".
The item is now in your cart and you are ready to place your order. From your cart, tap the green button “Proceed to Checkout” to review the order details. You will be able to modify your shipping address in this step, as well as view the seller’s payment accepted methods, view the total price and the description of the seller shipping methods. Does it look good? Tap the button “Place your order” to proceed then!
The order has now been placed and you will be redirected to the order page. The next step is to pay for your order. As noted previously, payment methods should be reviewed before placing the order, so you will know in advance which payment methods are available.
The seller should send you an invoice within 4 days. Once you receive this invoice, you will be able to proceed with your payment with Discogs Payments (credit card), PayPal or other payment methods, depending on what the seller offers. You can tap on each available option from your order page to proceed to payment.
If the order is paid via Discogs Payments (credit card) or PayPal, the status of this purchase will update to "Payment Received" or "Pending", which alerts the seller that payment has been made, and that they can now ship the order.
Through this order page, you are able to communicate with the seller. You will find a designated field to write the seller a message on the order page. If you have any questions about your purchase, shipping or other concerns, it’s best to let the seller know via the order page. You will simply need to type your request, tap on the blue button “Send Message”, and after doing so, your message will be visible for you and the seller.
If the seller of the order has not responded you after 4 days of your last message or has not updated the status correspondently, please use the Seller Not Responding? feature under the text box so the seller is notified about this.
Further down your order details, you will find our help documents in case you have other doubts, a link to contact Discogs Support if you need to report a problem with the order or the App, and the option to view the purchase via Discogs.com.
Once you have received your order and check that everything is correct, we recommend you to leave feedback on this seller.
If the order is eligible to leave feedback you will see a blue icon called "Leave feedback" under the seller's username, above the message box. Tap the button and select the type of feedback you want to leave (Positive, Neutral or Negative), tap Next Step, write a small text that defines your experience with the seller (read here how to leave appropriate feedback) and tap on the green button "Send Feedback". The feedback will now show on the order page as well as on the seller's rating page.
You have the option to remove from Wantlist and Add to Collection after leaving feedback on a purchase, go for it!
