Zink Media, LLC (d/b/a Discogs) and our affiliates are committed to ensuring that persons with disabilities have access to our services, including those offered through our websites and mobile applications (our “Digital Properties”). Accessibility aligns with our mission to provide an inclusive user experience. At a minimum, we strive to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (“WCAG”) 2.0 Level AA developed by the World Wide Web Consortium. This is to ensure that our Digital Properties are accessible to everyone We work with accessibility and usability consultants to make sure that our Digital Properties function properly. Our teams receive ongoing training on accessibility tools and techniques. In addition, automated and manual accessibility testing is built into our processes. This includes product planning, UX & design, development and review processes.

We are always learning and looking for ways to improve accessibility. Here are some items we are working toward to improve access to our websites and mobile applications:

  • Text Equivalents: providing alternative text detail for appropriate images and other non-text elements.
  • Full Keyboard Access: accessing the full site using a keyboard.
  • Site Consistency: consistency in the way we build our websites and mobile applications so that they function the same way every time you interact with them.
  • Site Structure: using appropriate headings, lists, paragraphs, style sheets and other formatting features so that guests can easily use the website with assistive technology.
  • Links: stylizing links to have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

Our Digital Properties are designed to be compatible with common assistive technologies. Discogs develops and tests for accessibility using technologies and techniques including:

  • desktop and mobile operating systems
  • screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
  • voice control systems: Apple's Voice Control
  • keyboard-only navigation

Our Digital Properties are not compatible with:

  • browsers older than 3 major versions or Mobile operating systems older than 5 year

Technical specifications

Accessibility of our digital properties rely on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of our digital properties, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations:

Information provided by users: Uploaded data and images may not have text alternatives because we cannot ensure the quality of contributions. We monitor user comments and repair issues as soon as possible. Please contact us if you encounter an issue.

Image Galleries: We continue to evaluate our options to provide a more valuable image gallery experience, including enhancements to alternative text.

Image Editor: We continue to process ways in which we may improve our image editor’s drag-and-drop experience, and the resulting metadata as images are re-ordered for the Image Gallery.

Non-English Language Support: We continue to set up unique non-English sites and support articles for accessibility.

Multi-Language Release & Other Entity Pages: We continue to work towards providing a screen reader experience for pages that depict release data with mixed languages on the release itself.

Resize Text: We continue to evaluate our ability to convert multiple mixed values across sites to a singular value type, so that we can make additional text resizing solutions possible.

Support Articles - GIFs as videos: We continue to make progress in enhancing the user experience wherever we have GIFs acting as tutorial videos.

YouTube Videos: Several videos on our websites and mobile applications use YouTube. Embedded YouTube videos are usable via keyboard controls. We continue to modify our own products to prioritize videos with Closed Captions and in-video lyrics, though many have such accommodations already available.

Apple Music: Our mobile applications use an embedded Apple Music player for track preview and playback. Apple's embedded player does not display lyrics. If the artist has provided lyrics, the Apple Music app can be used to play tracks with lyrics.

Assessment approach

We assess the accessibility of our Digital Properties through self-evaluation and third party review.
